New owner checklist

Before entering live transactions, complete the setup wizard and confirm the company file, fiscal year, chart of accounts, and default posting accounts. Accessory is built around normal accounting controls, so setup quality matters.

  • Create or open the correct company data file.
  • Run company setup and confirm legal name, address, tax IDs, and accounting basis.
  • Review the chart of accounts before posting invoices, bills, or journal entries.
  • Set default accounts for receivables, payables, bank, sales, expense, and equity workflows.
  • Create a backup before first live use and before any major import or AI-assisted posting session.

AI assistance

Use AI as a guided assistant, not a shortcut around accounting controls

Accessory AI can explain screens, help find the right workflow, review setup state, and draft actions. Accounting posts should still go through the Accessory forms and posting routines so the normal validation, audit trail, and approval steps remain intact.

  • Use AI help for navigation, explanations, and transaction drafting.
  • Review proposed postings before approval unless Full Auto mode has been deliberately enabled.
  • Keep backups current, especially before imports, repairs, or high-volume transaction work.
  • Use reports to confirm results after invoices, payments, bills, journal entries, and closing work.
